London Fixing Testing Ltd was founded in 2019 by engineers Alex and Melanie Scholes, partners in work and in life, with a simple goal: to build a testing company genuinely focused on its clients.
With 45 years combined experience delivering safety and time critical structural testing and monitoring projects across London, the UK, and further afield in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, they personally handle every test, report and site visit, and wouldn't have it any other way. Qualifications including BEng, MEng, MSc, CSCS, IPAF, PASMA, LEEA and CFA Advanced Tester mean every job gets the expertise it deserves - whether that's a landmark project at The Shard or a local school or hospital.
When you call London Fixing Testing Ltd, your first point of contact is an experienced test engineer. The person completing your testing on site will always be one too.
A Nottingham University civil engineering graduate, Alex started work on site, building deep expertise in structural testing and monitoring. He progressed from site engineer to senior engineer, training and supervising others along the way, with projects taking him across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
A co-founder of London Fixing Testing Ltd, Alex leads on all technical delivery, bringing that breadth of hands-on experience to every job. With MEng, CSCS, IPAF, PASMA and CFA Advanced Tester qualifications, Alex ensures every project gets the expertise it deserves.
Outside work, Alex keeps up to date on science and technology innovations, is an avid fan of F1, and plays team sports. Spending a few hours in the workshop building things out of wood or metal is one of his favourite past times that combine learning new skills with being creative.
Melanie graduated with a degree in civil engineering from Cardiff University, and began her engineering career on site, conducting structural surveys and load testing. Her focus shifted over time, to building and running two engineering businesses, leading on people, commercial, logistics, and finance, while maintaining technical oversight.
At London Fixing Testing Ltd, she brings her experience and expertise to every project, ensuring work runs smoothly from first call to final report. An MSc in Project Management and CMI Diploma in Leadership and Management underpin an approach that applies the same rigour to running the business as to the work itself, recognised through personal and professional awards.
Outside work, Melanie mentors young entrepreneurs starting out in business. She loves cooking for friends and family and travels whenever an opportunity arises.
